Jane STORYTELLING at Sip N Sit Cafe NOV 1ST, 6.30 PM.

There's a lovely little cafe on 3244 Mission Rd, SATX. 78214, called Sip N Sit. It's across the road from the San Jose Mission. Very cosy place, makes good coffee, no WiFI so it's a place to sit and sip and talk. Although, if you have a hotspot on your phone they won't stop you from using your laptop/tablet. They also have an attached extensive garden, with a mixture of seating and shady places, and a tiny STAGE.
Talked to the owner, Martha Alonzo, today and we've agreed that I will tell stories there on their First Fridays, starting November 1st, 6.30 - 7.30 pm, indoors. Entrance free, come support the home team, listen to some rib-tickling stories of LIFE.
See you there, 6.30 sharp - earlier if you want to grab a seat and coffee/tea.

FIESTA! is coming up this weekend - it last all week, from Saturday April 20 to Sunday April 28. Three big parades: Friday the 26th The Big Day Parade through downtown, starting at SA College; Saturday. night, April 27 Fiesta Flambeau, the largest. night parade in the USA, and during the day - from 10 am on - the kooky King William Parade and Festival. Oh boy - where to turn!!! I have tickets for Fiesta Flambeau, will be sitting with family and kids on the bleachers on the corner of Quincy and Lexington - just around the corner from my house!!!

AND ON SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 10 - 4 PM, YOU CAN FIND ME AT THE CASTLE HILLS FIESTA CRAFT SHOW ON THE CASTLE HILLS COMMON ON LEMONWOOD.
Come by, make me happy!
There's a stage with music, crafts galore, a petting zoo and play area for the kids, food trucks with lots of goodies... OH MY!

I will be telling stories at the San Antonio Highland Games in Helotes this coming weekend, on Saturday at 11 am and at 4 pm, and Sunday at 11.30 am and a 3 pm, April 6th and 7th. All on the Ceilidh Stage. Check the website Sanantoniohiglandgames.org/.com for the weekend's full program.
Come out to the Cornyval field in Helotes on IH 16 for a full program of Highland Games and fantastic Celtic music, dog trials and men in kilts, tossing telephone poles ("cabers") - OH MY!!

I've been working on a new program of stories for IHD, the Dallas N.TX. Irish Festival (March 2 - 4), new engagements as a storyteller around the City (of SA) and for Achill Island.... we storytellers don't just shake the tales out of our sleeves; we write them, we work on them, we re-write them, we practice, practice and practice once more. During all this I have come upon a couple of personal stories which a very near to my heart and which I have hesitated to tell. But I have re-written and re-considered, and I WILL tell them this weekend in Dallas at NTIF ... hoping the personal fallout will not be too great. Then I have a retelling of a very old story, of Fionn MacCumhaill and the Fianna, which "takes the mickey" at Fionn, known as a very proud man. Just know that at Goo Goo GaGa! anything can happen!! ....And a couple of others, it is a NEW program.
See you in Dallas, first on Saturday at 11 am on the Harkness Stage in the Automobile building, close to the clan gathering, then a little later in the Story Glen at 2.15...and again on Sunday midday at 1.15 in the Story Glen.
Looking forward to trying out these new "old" stories on a live audience, and not just on Max the Dog.

OF COURSE, MARCH BELONGS TO THE IRISH, and I will be telling stories at a raft of locations around San Antonio, including Alamo Ranch Dell Webb, and Community Centers in San Antonio. Check this space for dates and times.
And upcoming on APRIL; 6TH AND 7TH, is the SA/HELOTES ANNUAL HIGHLAND GAMES where my heart belongs to the loyal audience and the stories they love. This is a great weekend of Celtic, Irish and Scots culture, music and sports - see you there!!!!

The biggest Irish Festival in the USA is coming up in March: DALLAS, FAIR PARK; NORTH TEXAS IRISH FESTIVAL.
Fri March 1 - Sun March 3 - music, dance and STORY on 9 stages!! I will be telling a new program of stories on Saturday and Sunday. on the Urchin Street small stage and on the big Urchin Street Harkness Stage in the Automobile Building. Times are:
Saturday, March 2: 11 am on the Harkness Stage
Saturday, March 2: 2.15 on the Urchin Street Stage (the Story Glen)
Sunday, March 3: 1.15 on the Urchin Street Stage (the Story Glen)

Due to a serious life change, I have to give away my two beloved cats. They are Louie - a male, mix Siamese and Tabby - and JuJu, female, a marmalade cat. Both are up to date on all shots, both are 10 years old, love to go outdoors, especially at night but not in the rain. These two are good friends and often sleep cuddled up together. Louie has blue eyes and loves to talk. JuJu is independent but does appreciate a warm lap. Both are healthy and I hate to part with them but life is demanding this.
