Standing at 50 feet tall and weighing nearly 2,000 pounds, Big Santa is back at Ala Moana Center, continuing a beloved tradition that’s been part of the holiday season for over 60 years. Made of 2,500 square feet of fiberglass and resin, this towering figure is a true holiday icon.

Installing Big Santa is no small task—it takes 12 skilled workers and a custom-built elevator system to get him into place, built to withstand winds of up to 86 mph. Before the current version debuted in 2020, the original Santa stood 37 feet tall and was made from paper mâché and chicken wire.

This festive addition showcases how art, installations, and sculptures enhance the shopping experience, making each visit more memorable—especially during the holidays.
