Our story began almost 25 years ago, as we moved into an old Tudor style house in West Akron Ohio....we fell in love with “the thrill of the hunt” as we filled our home with treasures both old and new. We had the help and guidance from some amazing friends, Dwight and Jeanne, and will forever be indebted to them for teaching us so much through the years! They instilled in us such an appreciation for creating a warm and inviting home, and not focusing in on one element, but taking it all in!
It all really came to life during our first vacation to Cape Cod together. As we meandered through the many antique stores, the shops on Nantucket, across cobblestone roads, through beautiful landscape, and admiring the incredible architecture....we couldn’t help but be inspired! The texture of the old, the patina created by the many years of wear, brought to life everything they had taught us and we couldn’t wait to incorporate that into our home...we were hooked! We brought back so many unique finds, and so many ideas...it truly was the start of something special!
From that experience, we became enamored by the special affect using “found” items had on creating a warm, lived in and loved environment and worked to recreate that in our home...looking constantly for those “special finds” that you can only find in antique stores, flea markets, estate sales, etc. We would wander through the shops in many of the small towns nearby, taking it all in...admiring the warm wood floors that had been there for a hundred years, or the amazing plaster moldings that were done inch by inch by an artisan of old. And through those outings, our love of the “old” continued to grow...and so did the amount of “stuff” we accumulated! Put that together with a rewarding career at The Bombay Company and Pier1 Imports, and out comes this crazy idea of opening our own shop someday!
Enter....Edinboro....our cottage on the lake is what brought us here.....the community is what we fell in love with and wanted to be a part of! So when we had the opportunity to do just that, we jumped in! Over the last 3+ years, we have worked endless hours to renovate our building and bring to life all those things that have inspired us over the years. Those warm wood floors, that beautiful molding encasing the ceiling, the brick wall that has withstood the test of time...and of course, those special finds to bring it all together. And now we’ve taken that final leap.....
