On August 25th the owner of Independent Records, Orville Lambert, passed away. We've been feeling all sorts of emotions and having some good memories to share with each other. Orville wanted Independent Records to continue on, and that is our aim.
For those who worked here in the past, if you have a memory or something to share, we'd welcome it. Thank you.

Apologies for the delay in writing this! Although this may have taken me a few days...I have not stopped thinking of the Event and how incredibly moved I was!! Life has been crazy but I wanted to take a real moment to compose this---it deserved at least that much!!

1st to the people of this community—I am stunned & in shock! I don't think there are adequate words to even begin to express what I am experiencing & feeling--but I shall try!

To say say thank you seems empty! We were blown away by the turnout for this event! The life you breathed into the store & the support & love you showed for this legend that is Independent Records moved my heart like nothing else!
To the performers--NinaN9ne Milli, Chris Waldron, Erik Radke, Tarikh, Dj, Che-bong, Abassive, Ice Troll....you made the store full of life with your music & beats! You filled the store with your passion & hearts! You made this night beyond special! I am blown away at the energy & love you poured into that space! It brought us all together which is what music itself does! You have no idea the gratitude I have for you! And that some acts drove down from Denver! Wow! Just Wow to it all!

To our personal friends that came to support and offer love to us!! That was so special and such a joy to see your smiling faces among the beautiful chaos of the crowd!! You have no idea how much it meant to be joined by you!!

To the former staff that showed up to remember & express the love that this place held & still holds in your hearts was a true testament to all our connection to this place! To work here is a unique experience that only we understand! It's hold never leaves our hearts & you all proved how special this is & always will remain! We have all created life long friendships & found soul mates within the heart & walls of these stores! Seeing you all brought tears to my ears and made me grasp at my heart like only music does!

To the current staff! Well it could not have been accomplished without all of you! We are the ones here at the juncture! Afraid that we might have to say goodbye to each other & this store in our daily lives. Staying strong and showing up every day as if it is not! Understanding that if these are our last days...we want them to be full of joy and reflect the love we have for our jobs every day!! So we show up with smiles and wonderment as if it is still day one!! How you all have had to take on extra weight to support Matt & I in trying to figure out ways to buy it or sell it---so we can continue offering the love that is music to all! You are the backbone to my backbone!! Everyone always said they wanted to be here when the ship went down—and we are the ones that remain! Except that is not our sediments! We are here trying to save the ship from going down!! It is an exhausting effort in moments—but here we remain!! I am so blessed to have the staff I do!! I appreciate each of you insurmountably!!

This night will live in my heart & our hearts forever! It was beautiful and a reflection of the love that is music and community!! The outpouring of love you all gave to us is astounding! I have not gotten over it! And probably never will!!

But now I need to give a very special thank you to Erik Radke and Chris Diablo! I cannot and do not have words to express the immense gratitude and shock I am in because of the two of you!! This night would've never happen or been possible without you! Because we are on such a limited time frame to save this....you put this together in under 6 days!! WHAT????!!!! WHO ARE YOU???? It was truly an act of the kindness of strangers who I now consider friends...magical friends who stepped up to help!! It has me just in absolute awe!! You literally did this out the goodness of your hearts and your love for an Icon in town!! But still...you had no reason to do this for us!! And there you were!! Thank YOU!!

Thank you to all!! You made this such an absolutely beautiful special and magical night!!
