Like everything else in the store, our furniture is handmade. Oak and Steel were beautifully shaped in Carlsbad Village by Rusty Perez and Chapman Cochran . The store design was created by Italian Artist Emanuele Scoppola from Rome, a project liberally inspired by Italian Archi-Star and Furniture Designer Lina Bo Bardi.
The modern Girafa chair and table, were originally designed in hardwood in 1986 by Marcelo Ferraz, Marcelo Suzuki and Lina Bo Bardi and is an icon of Brazilian modern design. Due to its unique shapes, in 2016, the Girafa chair was incorporated into the architecture and design collection of The Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA). Chairs and tables are handmade of Western Red Oak, stainless steel and colorless sealer finish.
Bo Bardi, who emigrated from Italy to Brazil in 1946, played a lead role in advancing modernist architecture and design in postwar Brazil. Among the landmark buildings she designed was her São Paulo home, the Glass House (Casa de Vidro, 1951), which she furnished with Poltrona Bowl Chairs (https://www.moma.org/collection/works/198784).
