Caspar Basque-er Auditions for POETRY KARAOKE NIGHT! Pyewacket Books keeps this wonderful month’s magic going for Gentle Readers! On Saturday Dec. 29th, our talented local poets Melanie Ann Mahla and Faith Bloom return to Pye’s Galleria Stage for “Pye’s Poetry Karaoke Night!” Melanie and Faith will read from their new works and then share the mic with local artist & poet Lynda Sebastianelli and famous Historic Fell’s Point reenactor Steve Lampredi - and with all Gentle Poets in the audience! 🎤 The fun begins with a 6:00 winter delights reception with bubbles (Prosecco & Brut) 🥂and Red Velvet Cheesecake goodies from “Cupcakes by Charlie!” The poetry reading is from 7:00 on! The sweet night concludes with a pass around of the famous Pye Minis Bowl! Hang Onto Your Hats & Get Blown Away By Pye’s Special Art Loop Show, Book Reading Event, and Wine & Lite Fare Reception for Author George Hickman and Artist Alexandra Lamancusa!!
Show begins at 1:00, Reception at 5:30, Reading at 7;00 pm!
George Hickman is primarily a fiction writer whose work focuses on gender identity and place identity. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Classics at Bucknell University and his M.A. in Creative Writing at Ball State University. At Ball State, he taught introductory English courses and has since then has begun working as a fiction reader for Barrelhouse Magazine. Much of his work focuses on gender and sexuality throughout history, and writing back in identities that history has sought to erase. His work has recently appeared or is forthcoming in Palimpsest, The Nottingham Review, and The Louisville Review.
Alexandra “Cusa” Lamancusa’s work explores the fantastic, using pattern and texture to bring imaginary creatures to life. This Maryland-born traditional artist works ina a variety of flat mediums and loves to create her own home-cooked dyes and inks. She returned to her home state of Maryland to live in Baltimore after studying Studio Arts and Philosophy at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
