Woo hoo. What a weekend at the Airdrie Quilt Guild show at Balzac. Thanks to everyone who attended, and gracious thanks to the Guild members for organizing another great show. Those of you who missed the show have missed not only a fantastic display of talent but also an opportunity to come out of your coops to be with your friends and fellow quilt lovers.

This photo might as well have been taken in our own backyard in Banff National Park. It's a winter scene that reminds me of crisp air and golden warming sunshine. The only thing missing is a chair lift (or not!). This oversize "Stay Till Winter" panel is 32" wide.

The Journey Home by Karen Erickson for Northcott, available now.

In light of the recent traumatic events that have unfolded at former Residential Schools across Canada, "Every Child Matters" was created out of reverence to those grieving. This painting depicts two siblings who were finally set free after being grimly discovered at a Residential School. The children who are shown holding hands were torn apart from each other, but now reunited as they make their way back home. The artist included beautiful imagery such as a moon and feathers to represent the First Nations, Inuit and Metis people joining together to guide the two siblings home.
