Thank you. Thank you for always supporting both mine AND all of your local businesses! Thank you for supporting each other and for championing your neighbours.

When we support our local businesses, we do so much GOOD. We keep money circulating in our community, we keep our friends, family members and community members afloat, we support each others goals and ambitions and dreams. It’s something so powerful and I just want to really express my gratitude!

I’ve had nothing but amazing support from the Airdrie community from the day QMBeautique opened (it’s our THIRD birthday next week!), through navigating adversities (queue huge manufacturer and production disasters), through new product launches and everything in between, and to be nominated platinum in TWO categories this year is just beyond humbling and we’re so honoured.

I can’t wait to keep supplying you with lash and beauty products you love to use and be a business you love to champion! I’ve led this venture with the intention of doing good things, helping women feel beautiful and supported and supplying you all with products that make you look and feel GREAT!

Airdrie has been my home for the past 20 years and I mean it when I say I’m so proud of this community. I’m so honoured to have a business that shares this space with so many incredible businesses, to be among so many supportive mentors, customers, friends and colleagues.

What makes a great fit?

Flexing your lash band💪🏻 (ok maybe not that kind of flex, but let’s explore this theory)

Aside from trimming your lashes to fit YOUR eyes (because no lash is made for every eye shape or size)

Flexing your lash band makes a huge difference in how your lashes sit, feel and look.

Think about your favourite pair of shoes, they’re likely worn in. They’ve made their way around your feet, molding to their unique shape, fitting like a dream and feeling almost like you’re not wearing anything.

Lashes are the same. The more you wear your band, the more flexible it becomes and the more weightless they feel.

Luckily, you don’t have to wait for that comfort, there’s a little trick that’ll give you moving and grooving right out of the gate 👇🏻

Flexing the band does THREE things:

1. It prevents lifting
Our bands are made from soft cotton, but it’s still a great idea to flex them between the magnets, especially between the inner corner magnets, this ensures they stay out all day (or night) long!

2. It contours the band to your eyes
Keeping your band stored in their cozy tray keeps the nice u-shape, but nothing substitutes a good flex. This will ensure your band hugs your eyelids nicely, flowing with your lash line and looking most wonderful. Especially important if you have protruding eyes!

3. It makes your lashes look and feel weightless
Nothing feels more uncomfortable than a stiff lash band. As mentioned, even though ours are made from soft cotton, they still need a little love when they’re brand new. Give them a good flex between the magnets and you’ll immediately feel the difference, when they contour to your eyes, they’re soft and comfortable, you forget you’re even wearing them

And THAT feels just as amazing as it looks!

So if you’ve got some falsies waiting for your attention, save this post to remind yourself why you should give them some love

Worried about trimming your lashes?

It’s the single most important part of applying fake eyelashes, so let’s take the fear out of it! 👇🏻

Your false lashes should start at the bulk of your inner lashes and end 2-3 natural lashes in from the outer corner of your eyes

WHY?
1. If your lash goes too far at the inner corners of your eyes, they can pop up or lift AND feel extremely uncomfortable - lashes are meant to accentuate your lash line and gradually flow with them, having them too close to the inside of your lash line can make them look unnatural and feel ‘off’
2. If they go too far at the outer corners, it can also cause lifting there, but also unintentionally drag your eyes downwards, making you look sleepy, rather then awake - and the purpose of false eyelashes, magnetic eyelashes or regular strip eyelashes, is to bring an awake, playful look to your eyes

So How Do You Trim?
1. Hold your lash up to your eyes for a quick measurement
2. If using magnetic eyelashes, start with trimming one magnet off the outer corner, butting against the next closest magnet - always the outer corner and never inner. The inner corners taper with your natural lashes, cutting there will cause them to have a blunt end and it won’t flow naturally
3. Hold it up again to see if it measures correct (see above for guidelines)
4. Put them on and go on with your bad self 😻🔥

Well - I learned today that Canva has a new AI feature (you’ll see more at the end of this caption)

“If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then lashes are the perfect set of drapes” was what I typed - and then this neat little thing popped up and asked me if I wanted to “sprinkle fairy dust” on my verbiage.

And, here we are 🪶📜

I have a feeling marketing is about to get a whole lot more poetic…

Anyways, totally not why I came on here - we have a new lash, it’s really natural, realistic, light and airy - we call is Faux Real

When someone says, “I want something really natural, not caterpillar lashes, just something that will give me a tiny bit of extra ooomph” - this will be the lash recommendation - non caterpillary, super natural, your lashes, but not.

How Bout Them Lashes? 😍

Can we talk different eye shapes & hooded eyes for a sec? 👇🏻

This beautiful woman’s name is Melissa (she’s fabulous).

Melissa has gorgeous eyes that are both:
👁️ Almond shaped and heavily Hooded

Melissa likes to see lash when her eyes are open and since they’re quite heavily hooded, she needs both length and thickness to achieve that!

We all have different eyes and what looks one way on one person can look vastly different on another. Someone without hooded or deep set eyes wearing a long lashes may find them too long, while someone with deep set or heavily hooded eyes may find them just right.

So not only preference to take into consideration, but also your own unique and beautiful eyes.

Which makes shopping for lashes online pretty tricky if you’re not well versed in the world of false lashes…

PSA 📣 There’s a new lash live and ready for love 💕

This is Posh. She’s really pretty 🤩

And before I tell you about the lash - I have to share a bit about her name. If you’re local to Airdrie, you may know about .lounge (if you don’t, get over there! They do the BEST nails in town!!). They also have a liquor license 🍷😏 A close friend of mine owns and operates it and her name is Vanessa.

Vanessa is a lash pro - she sports our lashes daily and is the biggest advocate for them! She helps me select lashes, test lashes, gives feedback and all the other amazing things any lash boss could hope to find in a friend. Vanessa chose “Posh” and so, it’s named after HER! So you bet your butt you can head there to see them in person (AND do a try on!).
